HR Support

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

An EAP is a support service for managers and employees. As a counselling service, an EAP acts as an intervention program aimed at the early detection, identification and resolution of both work and personal issues.

Organisations with an EAP in place recognises the importance of maintaining the emotional and physical well-being of their employees. The provision of appropriate EAP services is beneficial to enhanced job productivity and ongoing satisfaction.

An EAP is a strategy to:

  • Provide a professional support service to staff to assist them with in dealing with personal or work related issues that are impacting on their performance and/or well being.
  • Improve management effectiveness in dealing with a range of staff issues.
  • Uncover broad organisational areas of concern to guide HR strategies.

Problems or issues that may be addressed by an EAP include, but are not limited to, coping with change, stress, relationship difficulties, family problems, financial concerns, health concerns, alcohol and substance abuse, gambling or other addictions, trauma, grief, loss or other emotional concerns.
